Guest Speakers:
Kate Christie is the author of “The VSED Handbook”.  Kate helped honor her mother’s wishes to avoid the late stages of Alzheimer’s disease with VSED – voluntarily stopping eating and drinking. Kate will share her experiences leading up to and including the 10 days it took her mother to die.

Nancy Simmers, RN is the compassionate death doula who was instrumental in ensuring that Kate’s mother had a peaceful and dignified death. She is also the cofounder and coordinator of VSED Resources Northwest.

Dr. Donald Moore, MD is a San Diego physician who specializes in Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine. After completing a fellowship at UCSD, he joined the team at Empowered Endings working with Dr. Bob Uslander to provide end of life services and education to those in need. Dr. Moore is also a member of the board of directors of the Hemlock Society of San Diego.
