Please join us in person for a short documentary, Being Mortal, followed by HSSD’s first Town Hall Meeting.
How do you talk about death with a dying loved one? In this Emmy-nominated documentary, Dr. Atul Gawande explores death, dying and why even doctors struggle to discuss being mortal with patients. “Aging and dying — you can’t fix those,” says Dr. Gawande. This film examines the relationships between doctors and patients nearing the end of life, and how the medical profession can better help people navigate mortality. The ultimate goal, after all, is not a good death but a good life — to the very end. Click here to watch the trailer
After the film, we’ll break into small groups for a meeting of the minds. HSSD board wants to hear your thoughts on future events, suggestions for improving our educational services, and any questions or concerns you may have. This is your opportunity to guide the future of our organization and network with other HSSD members and friends.
The library offers plenty of free parking is located between Interstate 5 and the 56 freeway. Light refreshments will be served. We hope you’ll join us for this special event and bring your family and friends!
