Saturday, October 15, from 1:30 to 3:30pm at the Pacific Beach Taylor Library. Bring your family and friends for a free screening and discussion of this delightful film. Theatrical legend Sir Michael Gifford (Brian Cox) is suffering from Parkinson’s Disease that has left him deteriorating and cantankerous. After he alienates a host of caregivers, his daughter forces a new companion on him, a young Hungarian refugee, Dorottya, who has acting aspirations of her own. They develop a close relationship that helps him regain his vigor and sense of meaning. But Michael learns of his scheming daughter’s plans to remove Dorottya from his life and the drama unfolds. The film is a reminder of how the elderly are often treated as if their useful days are behind them, but these feisty, fully alive people can show us how to live.
